We recently worked with the town of Boone, NC, to help them forward their goal of becoming carbon neutral. For this project, we modeled the estimated rooftop solar production capacity for every building within the town’s limits and tied that to various attributes, such as zoning, utility provider, etc. This model accounted for variables such as available roof space, panel efficiencies, typical weather patterns, and more. This information allows the town to better advocate for clean power generation, as well as providing them with specific data on which areas and zoning districts are best suited for solar power production.
